For some weird reason, Amazon is selling certain Philadelphia titles for free. Most of them are for the Kindle , but a few are not. All of them are weirdly hilarious — so it’s not surprising that they’re free (although it would be more surprising to me if anyone reads and/or downloads these….)
- The Philadelphia Lawyer
(This is a .pdf so I’m assuming everyone can read it. It’s also 15 pages…) From the reviews, it appears to be your basic 15-page book about a lawyer, in Philadelphia.
- A Paper Presented to the Numismatic and Antiquarian Society of Philadelphia
. No details on what this paper is, but if you’re into coin-collecting and antiques, you probably don’t own a Kindle. But if you do….might as well download this baby. It’s free. Or, if you prefer paper, you can go to the Historical Society of Pennsylvania, where apparently they have this document IN PRINT.
- The Philadelphia Magazines and their Contributors 1741-1850
Not on the list: Stephen Glass.
- For you music fans: A free mp3 called Going To The Casino
by Philadelphia Grand Jury.
And for the price of 99 cents:
- Report of the general superintendent of the Philadelphia Branch of the U.S
by the United States Sanitary Commission. Didn’t know the US once had a Sanitary Commission? It’s not what you’re thinking. Abe Lincoln created the unit during the Civil War for women who wanted to volunteer.
